Your first visit.

Your first visit will normally last between 45 minutes and an hour. During that time your chiropractor will take a full case history, give you a thorough physical examination, including orthopaedic and neurological tests, and if necessary refer you to your GP. So you can be sure that you are in the right place.

Before the start of your treatment, your chiropractor will explain clearly and in detail, the results of your initial examination, using models and computer images where necessary. So that you can understand how and why you’re experiencing your problem. Your chiropractor will then explain the proposed treatment plan, and what you are likely to feel, both during and after your treatment. At this stage your chiropractor can give you a guide to how long it will take to achieve your health goals. So you can plan ahead.

Your first treatment usually involves...

You laying on your front, side, or back on the treatment couch whilst your adjustments are being done. Then your chiropractor may use either soft tissue massage techniques or ultra-sound on the surrounding areas; depending what your individual case requires. At the end of your first treatment, your chiropractor will give you specific, relevant advice to help speed up your healing process in between treatments. So you can confidently know what to do to speed up your recovery, or if you’re feeling sore.

At Merthyr chiropractic clinic we want you to feel comfortable and confident in our service at all times, so if you have any questions, at any time, we will gladly answer them for you.

  • Kate Mosedale

    • Kate discovered chiropractic through her love of dancing. She was auditioning for a scholarship for her dance degree at the Laban Centre, London, and had to have a medical to assess the function of my musculoskeletal system. It was then discovered that she had a problem with her pelvis. Not taking any chances, Kate’s mum took her to a chiropractor. Back then she was just 19 and had never heard of chiropractic.

Kate graduated with a Masters Degree from the Welsh Institute of Chiropractic at the University of Glamorgan in 2009 after four years of full-time study, achieving the “Clinician of the Year” award. Prior to this Kate worked as a rehabilitation assistant in a busy physiotherapy department within the NHS.

Kate has a special interest in acupuncture and she also returned to the Welsh Institute of Chiropractic in 2013 to become a Supervising Tutor to the final year Chiropractic students in their clinical year. Kate is registered with the General Chiropractic Council (GCC). A member of the British Chiropractic Association and the British Medical Acupuncture Society.
